Frequently asked questions.
Quick answers about FAM Pets fish oil, soft chews, freshness-focused packaging, shipping, and subscriptions.
What is Bag on Valve (BOV) spray technology?
BOV stands for Bag on Valve. It's an airless spray system where the fish oil stays inside a sealed inner bag. When you spray, pressure pushes the oil out without pulling air back into the bag, helping keep air away from the fish oil during daily use.
How is the fish oil spray different from a regular pump bottle?
A regular pump bottle can let air in every time you dispense, and over time repeated air exposure can affect freshness. Our BOV spray is designed to help keep air away from the oil during daily use.
What is nitrogen flushing and why do you use it for chews?
Nitrogen flushing replaces some of the oxygen around the chew inside the packet before sealing. Nitrogen is an inert gas. The goal is to reduce oxygen around the chew while the wrapper remains sealed until serving.
Which product should I start with?
Start with the Fish Oil Spray - it supports skin, coat, joints, and daily omega-3 wellness for both dogs and cats, and it's the easiest to introduce since you just spray it on food. Add Hip & Joint Chews for extra mobility support, or Probiotic+ Chews for digestive support.
What's the difference between the Fish Oil Spray and Fish Oil Sticks?
Both are omega-3 fish oil formats. The Spray is best for daily use at home since you can spray it directly onto wet or dry food. The Sticks are single-serve packets best for travel, daycare, picky dogs, or easy pre-measured feeding.
Are your products safe for cats?
Yes. The Fish Oil Spray is made for both dogs and cats. Fish Oil Sticks are a 5 mL serving best suited for dogs. For cats, the Spray is usually the better choice since it allows a smaller, adjustable serving. Joint Chews and Probiotic+ Chews are currently formulated specifically for dogs.
How do I dose the fish oil spray?
Spray directly onto your pet's food. General label guide by weight: up to 20 lbs, 1/2 tsp (about a 1 second spray); 21 to 40 lbs, 1 tsp (about a 2 second spray); 41 lbs and up, 2 tsp (about a 4 second spray). You can split the serving between morning and evening meals.
Why are individually sealed chews different from jar chews?
A shared jar is opened many times, and each opening can let in air and moisture. We wrap each chew on its own so the rest stay sealed, which helps protect freshness, softness, and taste.
Are your supplements safe for puppies and senior dogs?
Senior dogs can use FAM Pets products when used according to the label. For puppies, pregnant pets, pets with medical conditions, or pets taking medication, check with your veterinarian before starting any new supplement. Our soft chews are formulated for adult dogs.
