Steven was born on February 14, 2020. Our Valentine boy came into our family during COVID, at a time when life felt uncertain for many people. Like many pet parents, we quickly stopped thinking of him as just a dog. Steven became family.

His wellbeing matters deeply to us. If something goes into his bowl every day, I want to know it is fresh, clean, and worth trusting from the first serving to the last.

When I started giving Steven fish oil, it seemed like a good daily choice for his skin, coat, joints, heart, and brain health.

But the more I used traditional pump bottles, the more something bothered me.

Air went back into the bottle every time I used it. The smell changed. The oil was messy. And I started wondering how fresh it really was by the time Steven reached the last serving.

The label may show quality ingredients on day one, but what matters to me is whether those ingredients are still protected when my dog gets the final serving.

That question stayed with me.

Most pet supplements talk about ingredients. Ingredients matter. But packaging matters too.

Fish oil is sensitive to air, light, and heat. If the bottle lets air back in every day, freshness can change before your pet finishes it.

Soft chews have a similar problem. When chews sit loose in a jar that opens again and again, they can dry out, lose aroma, and become less enjoyable before the container is finished.

I believed pet parents deserved better.

I was born in Mongolia and grew up during a major transition in the country's history. I lived through socialism until late high school, then experienced the difficult shift to a free-market economy during my university years while studying mechanical engineering.

That period shaped how I think. It taught me not to waste things, not to cut corners, and to respect practical solutions that actually work.

I later received one of Mongolia's first Fulbright scholarships to study for an MBA at Virginia Tech. After graduation, I returned to Mongolia and worked for three years as a consultant on enterprise restructuring projects supported by UNDP.

I then came back to the United States to study Management Information Systems at the University of Arizona. After finishing school in 2004, I moved to Toronto, Canada, where I spent 16 years in real estate development and asset management, starting as a financial analyst and eventually becoming Director of Asset Management.

In 2020, during COVID, my family and I moved to Vancouver. In 2021, I left my corporate job and bought the Just Like Family Home Care franchise in Vancouver with my wife. We operated it for three years and later sold it for three times what we paid.

That experience taught me something important: good businesses are built by solving real problems with care, discipline, and consistency.

After selling our home care business, I acquired Jayland Naturals Canada, a cooking oil packaging facility in Richmond, BC.

At first, it was not a pet supplement company. But the facility had something I believed was missing in pet supplements: better packaging technology.

That became the foundation of FAM Pets.

Our fish oil uses airless Bag-on-Valve spray technology to help keep air away from the oil and make serving cleaner and easier.

Our soft chews are individually sealed to help protect softness, aroma, and ingredient quality until your pet gets each chew.

Every product is lot-coded with a best-by date for traceability.

I did not start FAM Pets to be the cheapest pet supplement brand.

I started it because Steven deserves better. And if I expect better for my own dog, I believe other pet parents deserve the same option for theirs.
